About Norrie Cox |
|
|
Norrie Cox is known the world over for his committment to the preservation
of early New Orleans Jazz as a performing art. He is a recording artist for Delmark
Records with his New Orleans Stompers. He is one of the very few teachers
of authentic New Orleans jazz and his teenage band "The
Crescent City Stompers" have performed in the historic Preservation Hall.
He has received many awards and citations for his volunteer work with young people.
He also leads the Riverboat Ramblers, his Goodtime Jazz, and when available is
clarinettist with Roy Rubinstein's Chicago Hot Six.

Roy Rubinstein: Photographer |

In 1963, trombonist Roy Rubinstein ventured to Louisiana and snapped these
photos of the famous Eureka Brass Band in Algiers. Band members include Kid Thomas
Valentine, Kid Sheik, Earl Humphrey, Willie Humphrey, Peter Bocage, Emanuel Paul
and Wilbert Tillman.
